The CCEF team is excited to reintroduce ourselves as Collective Clean Energy Fund! This name change reflects our commitment to expanding our reach and impact as we grow beyond Colorado and serve the larger EPA Region 8, including Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, and 28 Tribal Nations. This change comes at a pivotal moment in our organization’s journey, as we have recently been selected as a sub-awardee of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) $27 Billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF).

A Broader Mission

The decision to rename from Colorado Clean Energy Fund to Collective Clean Energy Fund represents more than just a new name; it signifies our expanded mission to serve the entire EPA Region 8. This region includes diverse communities and geographies, each with unique energy needs and opportunities. By broadening our scope, we aim to deliver impactful financial products to support the advancement of clean energy in these areas with a targeted focus on low-income and disadvantaged communities.

“Our organization name change is driven by our belief that collective action is essential to achieving our clean energy and climate goals,” said Paul Scharfenberger, Chief Executive Officer for Collective Clean Energy Fund. “As Collective Clean Energy Fund, we are committed to bringing together stakeholders and partners from across the region to collaborate on innovative clean energy projects that create lasting positive impacts.”

New Role as a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Sub-Awardee

The renaming is closely tied to the organization’s designation earlier this year as a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund sub-awardee through the EPA’s selection of the Coalition for Green Capital (CGC), a prime recipient of the National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF) competition. This designation positions Collective Clean Energy Fund to play a critical role in the national effort to accelerate clean energy adoption and address climate change.

CCEF will offer financial products with below-market interest rates and varying term lengths (everything from short-term bridge loans to longer-term debt solutions) in support of the EPA’s three priority project categories: distributed energy generation & storage, net-zero emissions buildings, and zero-emissions transportation.

What’s Next for Collective Clean Energy Fund?

As Collective Clean Energy Fund, we remain focused on our core mission of providing accessible financing solutions for clean energy projects that might otherwise struggle to secure funding. Our new name reflects our growing capacity to serve a larger geographic area and a more diverse set of communities. We believe that by working together—collectively—we can make significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing clean energy adoption.

In the coming months, we will be rolling out existing programs as well as new initiatives that leverage the resources provided by the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. These programs will explore opportunities to support energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other clean energy solutions across the region.

Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting new chapter as Collective Clean Energy Fund. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our region’s energy future.
